The social activities at ILI offer students a wide range of activities and excursions that are unique to the East Coast of Canada. The program includes cultural, recreational, athletic, and other social activities and takes place after school, on Friday afternoons, or on weekends, depending on the nature and length of the activity.
Summer: June – August
- Beach Days including swimming, and volleyball
- Picking fresh strawberries, raspberries, blueberries
- Canoeing
- Sports Days including playing tennis, baseball, soccer
- Attending outdoor theatre productions such as Shakespeare by the Sea
- Sailing on the world’s second-largest natural harbour

Autumn: September – November
- Whale-watching: see up to 21 species of dolphins, seals, and local sea life
- Apple picking and touring a traditional working farm
- Horseback riding and viewing Nova Scotia’s finest fall foliage
- Eating lobster with steamed mussels and fresh corn
- Attending a Canadian Hallowe’en party & pumpkin carving contest

Winter: December – February

- Touring a maple syrup camp and eating breakfast pancakes
- Touring Nova Scotia’s picturesque South Shore (Peggy’s Cove & Lunenburg)
- Touring an Atlantic Salmon fishery and sampling the smoked product
- School Trips
- Visiting a Canadian High School
