Tuition Payments
- The registration fee must be paid at the application time. The application fee includes the placement test fee.
- Students must pay all the fees plus one level of tuition before they start studying at our school. For the next level, they need to pay their tuition by the Friday before the start of the next level at the latest.
Health Insurance
Health and accident insurance is mandatory. All students must always have valid health insurance. ILI can arrange health insurance for you easily and at very reasonable rates. If you decline health insurance through ILI, you must supply proof of alternate coverage (an official document from the insurance provider which includes your name, policy number and dates of coverage). If you have insurance coverage from a provider other than ILI, it is your responsibility to ensure that your coverage does not expire. Contact your insurance provider in advance of your policy’s expiry date if you need an extension. You will not be permitted to attend classes or go on social activities without proof of health insurance coverage.Refund Policies

- ExpectationsWhen you are placed in a host family at your request, we expect that you will have the proper behaviour, and respect the rules of the home.
- Minimum timeThe minimum time to stay in a host family is four weeks. If you leave before, you do not qualify for a refund.
- PaymentsILI host families depend on scheduled payments. You must therefore make all host family accommodation payments on or before the date due at the reception desk. The Registrar’s office posts ILI’s payment schedule on the (electronic) student notice board. Payments for at least four weeks accommodation must be made at least four weeks in advance. If the dates of your arrival or departure do not correspond with the ILI payment schedule, you may have to pay for extra days so that your payment conforms to the ILI schedule.
- Late or Missing PaymentsIf your host family payment is not up to date, you will not be allowed to attend classes and will have to pay late fees. No tuition credits, refunds, or make-up classes are given for classes missed because of late payment.
Attendance Policies
- Required AttendanceLearning a language requires your active participation. Class attendance is required. If you miss or are late for class, or if you leave class for any reason once it has begun, you may not only miss something you need to pass your level, but you also disturb the teacher’s instruction, and you affect the learning of others. Level Courses, Skills courses, and Exam Preparation Courses • To qualify for your Mid-Term Test without penalty, you must have 80% attendance in your morning classes until the test day. • To qualify for your Final Level Test without penalty, you must have 80% attendance for your morning classes until the test day. While it is mathematically possible to pass a course without taking a Mid-Term Test, passing the level is highly unlikely and passing the level without taking a Final Level Test is impossible.
U-PP-Program (Level 600AP and Level 700UP) While the U-PP-Program does not have an attendance requirement to take course tests, you must have 90% attendance to pass the course. The consequences of falling below 90% attendance is severe, since you must either pass the course or earn a qualifying score on an official IELTS test to meet your university entrance requirement. - Calculating AttendanceClasses meet three times throughout the day: (1) at 9:00 am, (2) 10:40 am, (3) 1:15 pm. Attendance is taken every day at each class meeting. Your average attendance is calculated by dividing the number of classes you attend by the number of classes for which you are registered. The chart below illustrates the various possibilities. If you require information on your attendance, please see the Director of Studies.
- Late ArrivalsLate arrivals disrupt classes. If you are more than 15-minutes late, you will be considered absent. Do not go into the classroom until after the next break. Instead, go to the student lounge and prepare for your next class.
- Leaving Classes
Leaving a class once it has begun is impolite and disrupts the class. Prayer breaks must be taken between classes. If you must leave a class for a bathroom break, and you are not back within five minutes, your teacher will mark you absent for that class.
